South Florida Supports Allen West!

After receiving a tip-off late last night on Facebook about Debbie Wasserman Shultz’s planned protest of Lt. Colonel Allen West’s candidacy today, I headed over to his campaign office in Deerfield Beach. Yes, the Debbie Wasserman Shultz who represents FL  Congressional District 20 and is herself running for re-election, took it upon herself to arrange an anti-West rally on the sidewalk alongside Federal Highway.

As West supporters, we were respectfully requested not to engage the Klein crew or the local media, lest a confrontation erupt that could potentially damage the campaign. Well aware of the left’s hateful demagoguery and deceitful tactics, I’d never planned to engage any of them in conversation — a losing proposition among people brandishing signs like “Keep Abortion Legal” and “Florida doesn’t want the Tea Party or Allen West”, anyway.

Clearly in the throes of desperation, the Klein campaign (and DNC operatives) have published Allen West’s social security number; aired ridiculous commercials using Tea Party footage of West declaring himself a “right wing extremist” (hello liberals, it’s called sarcasm, and it was done in reaction to Janet Napolitano’s DHS); made false allegations of West belonging to a radical biker gang and repeatedly (in the case of debates) linked his name with Sarah Palin and “Terri Schiavo issues” — all in an effort to paint him as some sort of Bible-thumping, wild-eyed Christian lunatic who is unfit for public office.

Today that theme continued with the pro-abortion placards and handmade signs claiming that West is somehow “anti-women”. Mind you, to the best of my knowledge, he hasn’t even made abortion an issue in the campaign (though he  is pro-life), but if you were a Klein supporter, would you really want to focus on your guy’s support for highly unpopular legislation like Obamacare, Cap and Trade and stimulus?

In their classic, diversionary and fear-mongering style, all the liberal sacred cows were on display this afternoon in Deerfield Beach  — along with plenty of Allen West supporters, who had a few thoughts of their own. Enjoy!

Update:  Apparently, Palm Beach County tax collector Anne Gannon joined Wasserman-Shultz in the 20-30 people protest. Here’s the Sun-Sentinel’s coverage.

Update: Here’s the second video, featuring a Democrat for West.

Early Voting Begins Today in Florida

Lt. Col. (RET) Allen West poses with my brother Ralph after an event in Deerfield Beach, Florida in August, 2009.

I took the opportunity to cast my votes for Rick Scott & Jennifer Carroll, Marco Rubio, Lt. Col. (RET) Allen West, Pam Bondi, George Moraitis (FL House) and Ellyn Bogdanoff (FL Senate) at Delray Beach City Hall, one of the designated early voting locations. Though I am an old-fashioned kind of girl who prefers to vote on Election Day, I had to break my rule this year in order to be able to poll watch at my precinct on November 2.

I’ll be observing the proceedings from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., making for a long day that will hopefully transition into a raucous celebration lasting well into the evening at the Boca Marriott, where I’ll be watching the returns with the West campaign and other South Florida volunteers.

In what I believe to be an excellent sign, I waited in line for 35 minutes among voters ranging in age from the elderly to the middle-aged. The general mood was friendly, upbeat and sociable, and although I did not specifically ask anyone as to their preferences, I did hear a lot of talk about getting things back on track, making a statement and expressing dissatisfaction with both parties. Having never early-voted before, it’s hard to know if today’s turnout was unprecedented but one woman told me her West Delray precinct had been so overrun with traffic that she and her husband decided to drive several miles east to vote at City Hall. Since east-west traffic in South Florida can be brutal, I am also taking that as a good sign for freedom.

However, with just two weeks to go, now is the time to accelerate our efforts and eschew complacency, even as we bask in the joy of increasingly positive polling results. We’ve worked ourselves ragged over the past two years (many of us longer, considering the push-back against amnesty, TARP & other abominations under the Bush administration), and soon we’ll see the fruits of our efforts. And while we deserve a party and a brief respite from the insanity on November 2, we know this is only Phase 1. During Phase 2, our efforts will be focused on holding the newly elected accountable as we move towards 2012.

The Conservative Diva Debate Coverage of West vs. Klein

Still processing all of the videos, but these three offer pretty good insight as to the mood of the crowd and the tenor of the debate between Tea Party Republican candidate Lt. Col. (RET) Allen West and Liberal-Democrat-turned-born-again-fiscal-conservative Ron Klein (pay no attention to his 98% pro-Pelosi agenda voting record, Ron is really a “middle-of the-road” kind of guy).

One of the many things that irked me about Klein’s performance — aside from the blatant lies about West — was his dig at pro-life Americans, as indicated by his “Terry Schiavo issues” remark. I suppose it was a deliberate attempt to remind spineless independents and pro-choice Democrats about the “extremism” of Republican Floridians who believed their state courts committed  a grave and fatal injustice against an innocent, disabled woman based on the testimony of a conflicted witness. It was a cheap shot from a desperate, pathetic politician who knows he’s in the fight of his life against a strong, popular and principled challenger.

New Ads from West and Rubio

I will post my post-primary thoughts in a later article, but for now, enjoy these two new ads from Lt. Colonel Allen West and Marco Rubio. And bask in this wonderful revelation: Republican turnout in Florida was nearly 2-1 to versus the Democrats. We’ve got the momentum and the energy on the RIGHT side, and I can see November quite clearly from my house! 😉

What are you doing about the decline?

Via Conservatives For Palin, I discovered this jarring little illustration as to exactly what Fannie/Freddie, TARP #1, and the election of Hope and Change has wrought upon our nation. Big spending RINOs and liberals beware: November is coming!

Part One: We vote in commonsense conservatives to Congress.

Part Two: We hold them accountable for keeping their promises and undoing as much of the damage from the Obama Administration, the Pelosi Congress and the Harry Reid Senate as possible.

On a related note, if you are a registered Republican and Florida resident, get out the vote this Tuesday, August 24. Here are the two candidates I am most excited about supporting in the Primary and the General Election:

Marco Rubio for Senate.

Lt. Col. Allen West for Congress, FL District 22.

And to my friends who send me emails about how the liberals are destroying our country, I have a question: What are you doing about it? Are you sign waving for candidates? Precinct walking? Phone banking? Poll watching?

If you’re not, why not? And if you’re not, please stop complaining. If you’re not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

Lt. Col Allen West Speaks at Prayer Breakfast in Pompano Beach, FL

Via my friends at Tea Party Fort Lauderdale, Florida District 22’s next congressman calls out a contract videographer hired by the Democrats to try to intimidate him. As always, West is fearless, bold and crystal clear as he takes on socialism from a spiritual point of view.

Saving Our Country, Precinct by Precinct, State by State

Today I spent several hours with many of my favorite South Florida patriots, walking the neighborhoods of Precinct 4088 in Boca Raton. While it was an overwhelmingly positive experience, dealing exclusively with registered Republicans for the upcoming Florida Primary on August 24, we did run into a few snafus.

My friend Kathy and I were practically assaulted for the terrible injustice of interrupting one couple’s dinner when they angrily informed us that they’d already voted. Fair enough, but couldn’t they have politely shard that information with us and — dare I say — maybe even thanked us for doing our civic duty? It’s August in Florida, after all, and intense humidity is not your friend when lugging around a backpack filled with campaign literature.

Seriously, radical lefties are destroying our country and these idiots are mad about having to answer the doorbell? Give me a break!

Another winner was the guy who announced to Ellen that he doesn’t vote. If ignorance doesn’t kill us, apathy most certainly will! I remind you, these were registered Republican voters, not Obama-zombies. I expect more from them, especially when our country is on the precipice.

Anyway, lots of great video coverage to come, starting with these four:

Stuffing envelopes prior to heading out.

Ellen Snyder, the woman who inspired the title Conservative Diva, with Little Diva, Savannah.

Kathy Robbins, another fabulous Conservative Diva who makes me proud!

Taking it to the street in Precinct 4088 in Boca Raton.

Stay tuned: plenty more to come!
