As if we needed anymore proof of Ron Paul’s anti-American treachery — and no, I am not speaking of his inclusion in the Democrats’ list of favorite Republicans (though it’s also quite telling), — he’s finally waded into the Ground Zero mosque controversy where — unsurprisingly — he’s chalked it all up to yet another conspiracy theory, fomented by those war-lovin’ neo-cons:
“I think it’s a big distraction, a grand distraction from the real issues… To me it should have been a grand opportunity, and you really touched on the opportunity, because it’s really a property rights issue, and who owns the property? And it’s also a civil liberties issue. It’s a freedom of speech issue… Property rights and civil rights are one and the same… drives the neo-cons nuts… I don’t believe for a minute that the, quote, religion of Islam is our enemy.”
Really, Ron? And I suppose Al-Qaeda is just a CIA fantasy, too?
For the record, the majority of Americans and politicians who oppose the mosque fully understand the constitutional right to build it. Then again, most of us also understand that Islam is a strident political ideology wrapped up in the cloak of religion, and that jihadists committed an act of war against the United States on September 11, 2001 — not the United States government — all in the name of Islam. Further, understanding the history of Cordoba, we are cognizant of the fact that such a mosque is nothing short of a monument to their bloody victory over the “Great Satan” and 3,000 of its citizens on 9/11.
I know its tough for you libertarians — much like your foreign policy kindred spirits, liberals — to place a moral judgment on anything, but out of respect for 9/11’s grieving families, it would be nice if you’d grant them some deference on this emotionally supercharged, morally reprehensible issue. It would also be refreshing if you’d actually give your country the benefit of the doubt, instead of blaming it for the existence of a so-called religion that preaches death to infidels, practices pedophilia, commits unspeakable crimes against women, and actively engages in a worldwide, genocidal movement with the ultimate goal of imposing a worldwide Muslim Caliphate.
In short, since you’re so fond of conspiracy theories, maybe you can believe in one that’s actually true: Global Jihad. Then temper your constitutional remarks about the Ground Zero mosque with some intelligence and real compassion for your own countrymen — especially those who lost everything on 9/11.

Let me ask you: did the US Government also orchestrate the 1979 Iranian Embassy takeover, the 1993 WTC bombing, the Khobar Towers and the USS Cole, just to name a few atrocities committed by Muslims prior to September 11?
How about the London Subway bombings, the Madrid bombings, the failed attempt to blow up airliners over the Atlantic from Heathrow Airport, the Fort Hood massacre and the would-be Christmas Day bombing of Northwest Airlines? All part of the “neo-con” conspiracy too?

I also just heard on IW that part of the plane’s wing that flew into the tower that day landed right into the roof of the designated property (it went 2 floors deep- and that’s a fact). I am libertarian. I supported Ron Paul in 08. I believe in limited government and consider having the government micro-manage the economy is a big part of the problem and “O” has just about sunk us economically. I don’t like people dissing Dr. Paul and I consider him a great man but when I read this comment I wondered if he was ill informed or just plain loosing it! He is in his 70s.

Being a former ‘Yeah we’re gonna f*ck you towel heads up’ Conservative, I find something quite interesting about the same crowd these days: Ron Paul’s words [and that’s just what they are since he is a politician after all] suggest that we need to take healthy and literal dose of the U.S. Constitution for a while. That being said [and in my opinion an absolute must before it’s too late], living by the Constitution literally is by definition Conservative. So logic would follow that those who call themselves Conservatives should be supporting Ron Paul. That is, if they are truly Conservative and not just part of the duopoly of power/profit that is our illusion of choice in American politics.

I just watched an interview with Ron Paul on the CBS Evening News, and when asked what he would do to stop Iran from having nuclear weapons, he said, “whatever was necessary”. When asked by Scott Pelley if he meant going to war, Paul said “NO!. We contained the Soviet Union without war and they had 30,000 nuclear weapons.”
That pathetic statement is exactly why Ron Paul is so dangerous. How can one compare the former Soviet Union… a government with obvious common sense and the understanding of ‘Mutual Assured Destruction’, to a government with a maniac leader bent on making Islam the world’s religion and eliminating anything that stands in the way. The simple fact that just today, Iran “warned” the United States not to place another aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf should tell everyone how crazy this regime is. Comparing Iran to the former Soviet Union, regardless of how we felt about the former Soviet Union is an insult to Russia.

Ron Paul is neither a moron, treacherous or any of the other adjectives you seem to be so found of. I do thing he is wrong about Islam not being our enemy. I think he is right about our involvement in the middle east causing the increase in terrorism. By our nation building and meddling we have given the extremists a platform to promote their agenda.
